DESCRIPTION

Competencies are critical in the laboratory workplace. They improve the workforce by providing a framework for producing education and training programs, identifying worker roles and job responsibilities and assessing individual performance and organizational capacity.

This program will provide information on how public health laboratories are incorporating biosafety competencies to strengthen their workforce. Speakers will provide tools and practical examples that can assist laboratories with incorporating specific biosafety competencies into their biosafety plans and practices. Participants will also hear from APHL staff on their role in biosafety competencies including the tools and resources they have developed.

OBJECTIVES

At the conclusion of the program, the participant will be able to:

Describe specific tools and resources developed through APHL and public health laboratories for biosafety competencies
Identify how public health laboratories are incorporating biosafety competencies into their biosafety plans

CONTINUING EDUCATION

The Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) is approved as a provider of continuing education programs in the clinical laboratory sciences by the ASCLS P.A.C.E.® Program, Florida and CPH-recertification. P.A.C.E.® is accepted by all licensure states except Florida. This webinar will provide 1.0 contact hour for participants who successfully complete this training until May 15, 2020. After this date, you can no longer obtain P.A.C.E.® for this webinar.
